Eid-Ul-Fitr
The birth of moon is on Thursday October 14, 2004 at 2:49 Universal Time. On Oct 14, this moon is going to be 22.4 hours old on West coast of USA, and still impossible to be seen. It may be seen with difficulty in parts of South America, Chile in particular and in the Polynesian Islands. It cannot be sighted anywhere else in the world on October 14. It will be visible in most of the world on October 15. However, in Northern Europe and in England, it may not be seen even on October 15, although it is going to be 38 hours old - but Ramadan will begin in UK on Satureday 16th November except for those who follow the Saudis (they begin on Friday 15th).
Accordingly, the first day of Ramadan
will be on Saturday, October 16, 2004 for most of the world. However,
going by our experience and constant observation of the Saudis,
it seems almost certain that Ramadan will begin in Saudi Arabia
on Friday 15th November despite a literal certainity that no moon
sighting is possible in the Middle East on the 14th.

For Eid-ul-Fitr, birth of the Shawwal moon is precisely at 14:28and 11 seconds GMT on November 12th 2004. This means that a sighting is possible on the following day November 13th 2004 in many parts of the world, making Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday 14th November for most of the Islamic world except perhaps Pakistan, India and Bangaldesh where moon sighting on the 13th is going to be difficult. However, a rare oppertunity of a united Eid in the UK.
