Authentic Date for Ramadan World Wide is...Monday 27th Oct 2003

The birth of the moon (conjunction) for the Islamic month of Ramadan (H1424) will take place on 25th of October 2003 at 12:51 and 19 seconds GMT. Although we know that moon will simply not be sighted anywhere in the world on that day, there will almost certainly be a so called "sighting" in the Middle East and Ramadan there will start a day too early. On the following day, almost the entire world will be able to sight the moon on the same day as the evening sweeps across the earth. From our experience of the past many years the situation will unfold in the following manner. Ramadan will be declared in Saudi Arabia to begin on 26th ( a day too early) and that will be followed by some of the Arab countries and few communities overseas. For the large majoriy, Ramadan will correctly start on 27th. This majority will almost certainly inlcude Iran, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and many other muslim countries and communities around the world.

Eid-ul-Fitr

Tuesday 25th of November (America, Western Africa and Western Europe)

Wednesday 26th of November (For the Rest of the World)

 

For Eid-ul-Fitr, birth of the Shawwal moon is precisely at 23:00and 1 seconds GMT on November 23rd 2003. This means that a sighting is possible on the following day November 24th 2003, but only in the USA and Western coast of Africa - making their Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday 25th November. This would also be the case for many in Europe who accept a sighting in Morocco or a similar nearby Muslim country - PROVIDED there is a sighting in Morocco. Rest of the Islamic world will only be able to sight the moon on the 25th which obviously means that their Eid would be on Wednesday 26th November.
